Everything you need to know about BetterFontGenerator and Unicode text styles.
General
BetterFontGenerator is a free online tool that converts your plain text into 100+ Unicode font styles — bold, cursive, gothic, bubble, glitch, vaporwave, leet, morse code, and more. All styles can be copied and pasted anywhere that supports Unicode text.
A Unicode font generator converts regular letters into special Unicode characters that look like different font styles. The Unicode standard includes thousands of special characters — including mathematical bold, italic, script, and fraktur alphabets — that look like styled fonts but are actually just characters. Because they're Unicode, they work everywhere.
No — they're Unicode characters that look like different fonts. Real fonts are files installed on a device. Unicode font characters are just text characters that happen to look styled. This means they work everywhere without installing anything.

Yes. All text processing happens entirely in your browser using JavaScript. The text you type is never sent to our servers and is never stored anywhere. See our Privacy Policy for full details.
Platform Compatibility
Yes. Unicode characters are fully supported by Instagram in bios, captions, comments, stories text, and display names. Copy any style and paste it directly into Instagram. Note: Instagram usernames only support basic letters, numbers, periods, and underscores — Unicode fonts only work in your display name and bio.
Yes. Discord supports Unicode text in usernames, display names, bios, server names, channel names, and messages. Most styles including bold, italic, gothic, and small caps work perfectly. Very heavy Zalgo text may be restricted in some servers.

Yes. Unicode text works in WhatsApp messages, group names, and status. Note: WhatsApp has its own markdown formatting (*bold*, _italic_) which works differently from Unicode characters.
Technical Questions
If a device's font doesn't include the specific Unicode character, it shows a box (□) or question mark instead. This is rare on modern devices. Bold and italic styles have the widest support; more exotic styles like Ancient/Runic or regional flag emojis may not display on older systems.
Zalgo text stacks Unicode combining characters (diacritical marks) above and below letters to create a glitched, corrupted appearance. It is safe to use — it's just text. However, very heavy Zalgo can be hard to read and some platforms may limit how many combining characters display.
BetterFontGenerator currently offers 94 font styles across 9 categories: Bold (12), Cursive (12), Gothic (10), Symbols (18), Glitch (10), Fancy (14), Case (8), and Fun (10). We regularly add new styles.
